The State of Qatar has formally accused Israel of carrying out a recent military strike on the North Field, the world’s largest natural gas reserve, which Qatar shares with Iran (where it is known as South Pars).
In an official statement, Qatar’s Foreign Ministry described the incident as a grave and provocative act carried out against critical energy infrastructure during a period of already elevated regional tensions.
Qatari authorities warned that targeting such a strategically vital asset poses a direct and serious threat to global energy markets.
The North Field supplies a substantial portion of the world’s liquefied natural gas (LNG), and any sustained disruption could lead to sharp increases in energy prices, supply chain instability, and wider economic consequences far beyond the Gulf region.
The Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the reported attack as an irresponsible escalation that jeopardizes regional peace, maritime security, and the uninterrupted flow of energy to international markets.
Qatar called for immediate de-escalation and urged all parties to exercise maximum restraint to safeguard shared energy resources and prevent further threats to stability in the Persian Gulf.
