Abia Governor Alex Otti Honours Gallant Soldier for Dismantling Notorious Kidnap Syndicate Led by ‘Osisikankwu’

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, recently paid tribute to the courage and integrity of Staff Sergeant Amoke Gunshot Simeon, a dedicated member of the Nigerian Army.

Simeon spearheaded the decisive 2010 security operation that successfully neutralized the activities of Obioma Nwankwo, infamously known as ‘Osisikankwu,’ whose kidnapping network had caused widespread terror in Aba and surrounding communities from 2008 to 2010.

The gang’s ruthless abductions of residents and foreigners created an atmosphere of fear, leading many families to relocate in search of safety.During a heartfelt visit to Simeon’s home in Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area, Governor Otti commended the soldier’s unwavering commitment and moral strength.

Simeon notably turned down a reported ₦50 million bribe from the crime boss aimed at halting the pursuit, a choice that proved instrumental in ending the syndicate’s dominance and restoring a sense of normalcy to the region.

The governor’s recognition underscores a broader effort to celebrate individuals whose selfless actions helped overcome one of Abia’s most turbulent security crises. As part of this commendation, Otti committed state resources to cover specialized medical care for Simeon abroad, addressing serious leg injuries he suffered in a subsequent accident while deployed in the North East.

This support is intended to facilitate his complete rehabilitation and stands as an inspiring message to security forces everywhere, affirming that dedication and sacrifice in the line of duty are deeply appreciated and will be rewarded in Abia State.
