Heroic Driver Detaches Head As Tanker Goes Up In Flames In Iwo, Osun

Panic gripped residents of Iwo in Osun State on Wednesday after a fuel-laden tanker caught fire along a busy road in the town.

Eyewitnesses said the truck, which was heavily loaded with petroleum product, suddenly went up in flames while in motion, sending thick black smoke into the sky and forcing motorists and pedestrians to scamper for safety.

In a rare display of courage, the driver, despite the huge risk to his life, refused to abandon the vehicle completely. He quickly maneuvered to detach the truck head from the burning tank compartment.

According to a video shared by Osogbo Updates, the driver succeeded in separating the head from the tanker body, preventing the fire from spreading to the engine and potentially causing a bigger explosion that could have affected nearby buildings and vehicles.

As of press time, no casualty had been confirmed, while the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Residents praised the driver for his bravery, describing his action as heroic and selfless.
