A building in Wuse Zone 4, Abuja, caved in about an hour ago, prompting an immediate emergency response in the area.
Rescue teams are already on ground. Personnel of the FCT Fire Service are leading the operation to search for trapped persons and secure the site. Three ambulances have also been stationed at the scene to provide medical support if needed.
The incident comes on the same day the FCTA Development Control Department had marked the structure and ordered occupants to vacate. Officials sealed the building earlier today over alleged safety concerns.
Authorities are yet to confirm if anyone was injured or trapped during the collapse. The rescue operation is ongoing as officials comb through the debris.
The FCT Administration has not released further details, but investigations are expected to determine what caused the collapse despite the earlier seal and evacuation order.
