An Abuja High Court has affirmed that Nigerian singer Douglas Jack Agu, popularly known as Runtown, is still legally tied to his 2016 record deal with Eric Many Limited. In a judgment delivered on July 16, 2026, Justice O.A. Musa held that the recording contract signed by both parties in June 2016 remains binding. The court ruled that the agreement had not been validly brought to an end by the artiste.

The judge directed Runtown to go back to the label and fulfill his obligations under the contract. The court also ordered him to pay N319 million to Eric Many Limited as damages for breaching the terms of the deal.According to the ruling, the label had argued that the singer walked away from the agreement without proper termination, while continuing to release music independently.

The court found in favor of Eric Many, stating that the contract was still in force. Both parties are expected to comply with the court’s directives. The decision brings to a close a long-running dispute that began after Runtown and the label fell out over the interpretation of their recording agreement.
