FG Commits $2.99 Billion to Lagos Green Line, Kano Metro, and Kaduna Rail Projects

The Federal Executive Council has approved $2.99 billion for the execution of three major rail infrastructure projects across Nigeria.

The funding covers the Lagos Green Line, the Kano Metro, and the Kaduna rail project, all aimed at expanding urban transportation and enhancing connectivity.

According to the government, the investment is part of a broader strategy to stimulate economic growth, reduce traffic congestion, and improve mass transit systems in key commercial and population centers.

The projects are expected to create thousands of direct and indirect jobs during construction and operation phases.

Once completed, the rail lines will facilitate faster movement of people and goods, ease pressure on road networks, and support regional trade.

Authorities say the development underscores the administration’s commitment to modernizing Nigeria’s transport infrastructure and driving long-term economic development.
