President Bola Tinubu has questioned the commitment of opposition politicians to democratic principles, stating that their actions contradict the values they publicly endorse.
He made the remarks on Tuesday while receiving a delegation of political leaders from Enugu State, led by Governor Peter Mbah, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
According to a statement from Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Tinubu expressed concern that some opposition figures erode public trust in democracy through their conduct.
He stressed that genuine democratic practice requires consistency between rhetoric and action, urging political actors across the spectrum to uphold the ideals they advocate.
The meeting formed part of the President’s ongoing engagements with state leaders to strengthen collaboration on national development.
Tinubu reiterated his administration’s focus on governance that delivers results, noting that safeguarding democracy demands accountability from all stakeholders, regardless of party affiliation.
