Federal High Court Vacates Restraining Orders Against EFCC Investigation of Nestoil-Affiliated Companies

The Federal High Court has vacated earlier ex parte orders that had temporarily restrained the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from investigating Amaranta Oil and Gas Development Limited and Jonescreek Hydrocarbon Limited. These two entities are affiliated with the Nestoil Group.

The ruling removes previous legal barriers, thereby permitting the anti-graft agency to proceed with its probe into alleged criminal activities involving the companies.

The court’s decision specifically set aside the interim injunction issued on 25 February 2026 concerning Jonescreek Hydrocarbon Limited, as well as the order granted on 2 March 2026 in respect of Amaranta Oil and Gas Development Limited.

By rescinding these restraints, the judiciary has cleared the path for the EFCC to conduct a full investigation without hindrance from the earlier protective measures.

This development underscores the dynamic nature of judicial processes in high-profile financial and corruption-related matters.

It allows law enforcement authorities to fulfil their mandate in ensuring accountability within the corporate sector, particularly in the oil and gas industry, while the affected companies retain the right to defend themselves through due legal channels as the investigation advances.
