Orlando City Secures Agreement for Antoine Griezmann’s Free Transfer from Atlético Madrid in July 2026

Orlando City SC has successfully concluded negotiations with Atlético Madrid to secure the services of Antoine Griezmann on a free transfer, with the move scheduled to take effect in July 2026.

An earlier proposal submitted by the Major League Soccer club, seeking the player’s immediate availability in March, was declined by Atlético Madrid.

Following persistent discussions, both parties have agreed upon a structured departure at the conclusion of the 2025–2026 season, enabling Griezmann to fulfill his existing obligations before joining the American franchise.

According to credible reports, including those published by Marca and supported by additional sources, the 35-year-old forward is expected to arrive in Orlando this week to complete the necessary formalities. Upon his arrival, he will undertake the official signing process with Orlando City.

The agreement encompasses a two-year contract, commencing in the latter half of the 2026 MLS campaign and positioning Griezmann as a central component of the team’s strategic development.

Griezmann will be assigned the number 7 shirt, a numeral closely associated with his distinguished career.

This high-profile acquisition underscores Orlando City’s commitment to elevating its competitive standing within Major League Soccer through the integration of elite international talent, renowned for exceptional technical ability, tactical versatility, and proven success at the highest levels of the sport.
