Pastor Samuel Oladele, president of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Nigeria and Overseas, has called on Nigerians especially those who spend time on social media to stop mocking Christian clergy while the country battles a wave of insecurity. He warned that ridiculing religious leaders is disrespectful and hampers the collective effort needed to confront the nation’s crises.
Oladele singled out a widely shared online post that satirized senior pastors such as Enoch Adeboye, William Kumuyi and David Oyedepo, accusing them of failing to secure peace through prayer. He described the criticism as misguided, noting that spiritual leaders have continually prayed for divine peace despite the persistent threats.
The pastor cautioned that Nigeria is entering “the days of mockers,” reminding citizens that religious figures are human and prone to error, yet they remain dedicated to seeking God’s intervention for the nation.
He urged stronger action against cyber‑bullying, arguing that unchecked online attacks on religious figures threaten national stability and undermine the prayers and efforts of those working toward peace. Speaking at a dedication ceremony for a new church building in Osun State, attended by several dignitaries, Oladele reiterated his plea for respect, prayer and unity, encouraging Nigerians to trust in divine mercy as they confront security challenges.
He affirmed that without God’s grace, the country could not endure its current hardships, and he called on all citizens to support the spiritual leaders who are interceding on behalf of the nation.
