Crime Knows No Borders: Senate President Akpabio Urges Nationwide Resolve After Borno General’s Murder and Kebbi Schoolgirls’ Kidnapping

During a tense Senate sitting, President Akpabio asked legislators not to be disheartened by the recent wave of violence, reminding them that crime exists everywhere, even in the United States.

He highlighted two fresh atrocities the murder of Brigadier‑General Uba Musa in Borno and the kidnapping of twenty‑five schoolgirls coupled with the killing of a vice‑principal in Kebbi—that had unfolded within a day of each other.

Akpabio warned that Nigeria’s vast geography and limited security resources make it impossible to protect every corner of the country, emphasizing that the police are already spread thin and often deployed in atypical locations.

He stressed that while crime is inevitable, the nation must persist in its efforts to reduce it.Concluding the debate, the Senate passed its resolutions and then entered a closed‑door meeting to further discuss the deteriorating security landscape.
