Soludo Wins Landslide Victory in Anambra 2025 Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) as the winner of Anambra’s 2025 governorship election.

After collating results from all 21 local government areas in Awka, INEC reported that Soludo received 422,664 valid votes, far surpassing the 99,445 votes for the APC’s Nicholas Ukachukwu and the 37,753 votes for the YPP’s Paul Chukwuma.

His tally was more than four times that of the APC candidate and roughly ten times the YPP’s total, and he secured a victory in every LGA—a rare sweep in recent state elections.

Election observers, including Yiaga Africa, described the poll as largely peaceful, transparent, and well‑managed, noting that over 98 % of results were uploaded to the IReV portal in real time.

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum and President Bola Tinubu both congratulated Soludo, emphasizing the mandate for continued policy implementation in areas such as infrastructure, education, and security. Soludo himself thanked supporters, indicating that the win marks the start of more ambitious projects.

While the APC and YPP have hinted at possible legal challenges, no formal petition has been filed yet. The official declaration by INEC stands as the definitive result, paving the way for Soludo’s second term and reinforcing APGA’s dominance in the southeastern state.
