The San Siro stadium, home to AC Milan and Inter Milan, is set to be sold to the two clubs for €197 million. This deal marks the beginning of a new era for the iconic stadium, which was built in 1926. The clubs plan to demolish the existing structure and build a modern, state-of-the-art arena with a seating capacity of 71,500.
The project is expected to cost €1.2 billion and is slated for completion by 2031.The new stadium will be designed by renowned architectural firms Foster + Partners and Manica Architecture.
Once completed, the facility will serve as a hub for sports and entertainment, offering a range of amenities and services. The demolition of the San Siro will make way for new parkland, office space, and entertainment facilities, transforming the area into a vibrant and dynamic destination.
The sale agreement is subject to finalization by November 10, after which the clubs will take control of the stadium and surrounding land. This development is part of a larger effort to upgrade Italy’s stadiums, particularly in preparation for the 2032 European Championship.
The project has generated significant interest and discussion, with some critics questioning the sale price and potential impact on the community. Nevertheless, the city council’s decision paves the way for a new chapter in the history of the San Siro, one that promises to bring exciting developments and opportunities to the area.
