A devastating explosion rocked the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) flow stations in Rivers State, leaving several people feared dead. The incident occurred at Cawthorne Channel in Bonny Local Government Area, about 30 nautical miles off the Bonny coastline.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing two flow stations engulfed in massive flames, with the fire allegedly caused by heat from a welding operation that quickly spread to both facilities. A viral video showed community members inspecting the scene, while personnel from the NNPCL arrived with military escorts.
The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the explosion, but details are still sketchy. Meanwhile, another explosion was reported in Port Harcourt, with five people feared dead in a gas explosion. Additionally, an explosion occurred at the Mile 3 Market in Port Harcourt, injuring several traders.
