Oshiomhole Downplays Obi’s 2027 Ambition, Says 2023 Support Was Driven by Frustration

Senator Adams Oshiomhole has dismissed concerns about Peter Obi posing a serious challenge in the 2027 presidential race.Speaking on national issues, the former Edo governor argued that Obi’s strong showing in the 2023 elections was not primarily about Obi himself.

According to him, the votes reflected widespread public anger over the economic hardship experienced under the Buhari administration.Oshiomhole said many Nigerians used their ballots in 2023 to register protest rather than to endorse a specific political agenda. He suggested that once that frustration subsides, the political landscape will look different.Looking ahead to 2027, the senator maintained that the current administration under President Bola Tinubu is implementing difficult but necessary reforms.

He believes those policies will yield results that can sway voters back toward the ruling party.Oshiomhole concluded that Obi’s influence should not be overstated, adding that elections are ultimately decided by performance and public trust, not by protest votes alone.
