In a disturbing incident in Goska community, located in Kaninkon Ward of Jama’a Local Government Area in Kaduna State, a 15-year-old girl named Endurance Sabon suffered a severe attack allegedly carried out by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
The assault resulted in the amputation of her hand and occurred shortly after her family declined a marriage proposal directed at the teenager.
According to accounts from family members, the suspects approached the girl’s mother and relatives while they were tending to their farm on a Friday morning. The men expressed admiration for the young girl’s appearance and insisted that she be handed over for marriage to one of them.
When the request was firmly rejected, the group reportedly pursued the victims into a nearby forested area, where they inflicted the brutal injury before escaping. The attack has intensified concerns among local residents about ongoing security challenges, including incidents tied to banditry and attempts at coerced unions.
The victim’s relatives have urged the Kaduna State authorities and law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough investigation, offer medical assistance to the girl, and hold any perpetrators accountable through proper legal proceedings.
This case also highlights a prior family tragedy, as another relative was reportedly killed in a separate herdsmen-related incident earlier in the year.
