Kogi LGA Seals NIPCO Station, Impounds Truck for Alleged Fuel Supply to Bandits in Kiri Forest

On 30 November 2025, Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area in Kogi State took decisive action against suspected logistical support for banditry by sealing off a NIPCO petrol station and impounding a fuel truck fitted with an oversized storage tank.

The operation was jointly executed by the local government’s security task force and personnel from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

Intelligence gathered over several months reportedly revealed that the truck had been making repeated bulk purchases of petrol before proceeding toward criminal enclaves in the Kiri Forest within Kabba/Bunu and along routes leading into Niger State.

Authorities described the pattern as a clear breach of a longstanding prohibition on the sale of fuel in jerrycans, drums, or non-standard containers, a policy specifically designed to disrupt the supply chain sustaining armed criminal groups.

The Executive Chairman of Kabba/Bunu LGA, Hon. (Barr.) Zacchaeus Dare Michael, directed the immediate shutdown of the filling station and vowed zero tolerance for any form of assistance to criminals.

Both the detained suspects and the confiscated vehicle and fuel remain in custody pending further investigation and prosecution.

Local government officials emphasized that individuals or businesses found facilitating banditry will face the full weight of the law, reinforcing their commitment to denying criminals any operational lifeline within the area.
