Former presidential aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, Tolu Ogunlesi, has raised an alarm that his verified X account has been compromised by hackers.
Ogunlesi disclosed that he received a notification from X on October 3rd indicating that the password and phone number linked to his handle, @toluogunlesi, were changed, even though two-factor authentication was active on the account.
According to him, since the breach, the account has been used to publish unauthorized political contents, including posts attacking President Bola Tinubu’s administration, as well as fraudulent cryptocurrency promotions.
He strongly disassociated himself from all activities on the account since the date of the hack, stressing that every post, reply and direct message sent after October 3rd did not come from him and should not be attributed to him.
Ogunlesi urged the public to disregard any messages from the handle, avoid clicking suspicious links, and not to send money or share personal information. He added that he is working with X to recover the account and will make a public announcement once it is restored.
