Founder of Elijah Generation Church in Akure, Apostle Sam Adegoke, has publicly apologised for his past sexual relationships, admitting that his actions were wrong and fell short of ministerial standards.
In a statement shared on his Instagram page on Monday, the cleric revealed that he recently withdrew from public ministry and social media to reflect on his past and seek proper counsel. The apology comes shortly after his wedding, which had drawn public attention.
Adegoke disclosed that before his marriage, he was involved in intimate relationships with several women, an act he now deeply regrets. He stated that although the relationships happened before he got married, it does not excuse his conduct as a Christian leader expected to uphold holiness and self-control.
Taking full responsibility, the pastor tendered an unreserved apology to the women involved for any pain, disappointment or harm his actions may have caused. He also apologised to his wife, family, church members, colleagues and everyone who looked up to him for spiritual guidance.
He added that he has been seeking God, undergoing pastoral and professional counselling, and committing himself to accountability. According to him, genuine repentance must go beyond words and be shown through changed behaviour and willingness to face the consequences of one’s actions.
