Albert Korubo Horsfall, former Director-General of the Department of State Services and the first Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, has died.
The announcement was made on Friday by his son, Donald Horsfall, through an official statement. He did not provide further details about the circumstances surrounding his father’s death.
Horsfall was a key figure in Nigeria’s security and intelligence community. He led the DSS and later became the pioneer head of the NIA, helping to shape the country’s external intelligence operations in the early years.
During his career, he was known for his experience in intelligence gathering and national security management. His tenure at both agencies placed him at the center of major policy decisions during his time in service.
Tributes have begun pouring in from colleagues and associates who described him as a dedicated public servant. Funeral arrangements and other details are expected to be announced by the family in due course.
