Nigeria Condemns Fresh Xenophobic Attacks, VP Vows Strong Action To Protect Citizens Abroad

The Federal Government has once again condemned xenophobic attacks targeting Nigerians abroad, with the Vice President issuing a firm warning to host countries.

Speaking on the latest incidents, the Vice President described the violence as unacceptable and a violation of international norms. He stressed that Nigeria will not watch its citizens be subjected to harassment, assault, or destruction of property in foreign lands.

He noted that diplomatic channels have already been activated to engage the governments where the attacks occurred. According to him, Nigeria expects immediate steps to safeguard Nigerian nationals, prosecute perpetrators, and provide compensation where necessary.

The VP reiterated that Nigerians contribute meaningfully to the economies and communities of their host countries. He urged those nations to do more in promoting tolerance, rule of law, and the safety of all migrants within their borders.

The government reaffirmed its commitment to protecting Nigerians everywhere. The Vice President warned that continued failure to address the attacks would strain bilateral relations and force Nigeria to take further diplomatic and economic measures.
