Accord Party Leader Demands Petrol Cap at N605, Calls for Forensic Audit

A chieftain of the Accord Party has said petrol prices in Nigeria should not be allowed to rise above N605 per litre.

The party leader argued that current pump prices have gone beyond what Nigerians can reasonably afford. According to him, the cost buildup includes inefficiencies and other factors that need urgent scrutiny.

He is pushing for a detailed forensic audit of the fuel pricing template. The aim, he said, is to identify where costs are being inflated and to ensure that Nigerians are not paying more than necessary for a product the country produces.

The chieftain maintained that setting a N605 ceiling would bring some relief to households and businesses already battling high transport and production costs. He noted that without transparency in the pricing process, public trust will continue to erode.

He urged the federal government and relevant regulatory agencies to act quickly on the proposal. According to him, a clear, audited pricing structure is the only way to balance market realities with the purchasing power of ordinary citizens.
