Wike: Tinubu Could Have Won Osun “At All Costs” If Federal Might Was Deployed

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has said President Bola Tinubu had the capacity to secure an APC win in the Osun governorship poll if he chose to do so decisively.Speaking on Tuesday during an inspection of flood-affected areas in Maitama, Abuja, Wike stated that the president deliberately refrained from using federal influence in the August 15 election.

According to the PDP chieftain, he would have mobilized support for Tinubu had the directive been given. “If the president had wanted to win Osun state at all costs, I would have been there and we would have won it, and there’s nothing the governor can do,” he said.Wike pointed to the election outcome as proof that the federal government stayed out.

Accords Ademola Adeleke won 19 out of 30 local governments, while APC’s Bola Oyebamiji carried 11. “There was no federal might used in Osun. When you see the force and might of the federal government, you will know,” Wike noted.

He also remarked that Adeleke could have been in the APC if political alignments had gone differently.Looking ahead to 2027, the minister predicted a smoother re-election path for Tinubu than in 2023. He argued that the opposition has lost structure and strength. “The 2027 elections will be the easiest one for the President compared to 2023. This time around, the opposition has been crippled, homeless, no feather,” Wike added.
