Nigerian troops have carried out coordinated operations against suspected IPOB/ESN hideouts in parts of Anambra State, leading to the dismantling of several camps.
According to security sources, the raids targeted areas identified as operational bases for the separatist group. The exercise followed weeks of intelligence gathering on movements and activities in the affected communities.
During the operation, soldiers encountered resistance. A gun battle broke out and three suspected members of the group were killed. No casualties were reported on the side of the troops.
The army said weapons, ammunition, and other materials were recovered from the camps before they were destroyed. Authorities added that the sites were being used to plan attacks and intimidate residents in surrounding areas.Military officials stated that the operation is part of ongoing efforts to restore stability in the Southeast and protect civilians.
They urged residents to provide useful information to security agencies while assuring that patrols and surveillance will continue across the state.
