A Catholic priest serving in Kogi State has been found dead by the roadside with several machete injuries.
The clergyman, Rev. Fr. Samuel Oyetoro, was attached to St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Egbe. He was a native of Ayetoro in Ijumu Local Government Area and was born in Egbe, Yagba West LGA.
According to reports, his body was discovered along Church Road in Ajaokuta. He had sustained multiple cuts believed to have been inflicted with a sharp object.The Kogi State Police Command confirmed the incident on Friday.
Police spokesperson, William Ovye-Aya, told TheCable that the command received the report on July 29 after the body was found.Authorities said an investigation has begun to identify and apprehend those responsible. The police appealed to residents for information that could assist in tracking the perpetrators.
