The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has arrested a Lagos-based businessman and several other suspects in connection with what it describes as a major cocaine trafficking operation worth about N10 billion.According to the agency, the arrests followed months of surveillance and intelligence gathering.

NDLEA officials said the syndicate was involved in moving large quantities of cocaine through international routes, using sophisticated concealment methods to evade detection. In a separate operation, operatives also intercepted a consignment of Tramadol that was concealed inside containers of black soap.

The drugs were allegedly being moved to disguise them from customs and security checks. NDLEA stated that the volume of Tramadol recovered points to another organized distribution network. The agency disclosed that investigations are ongoing to track other members of both networks and to determine the full scope of their operations.

Authorities say the suspects will face prosecution under relevant drug trafficking laws once investigations are concluded.NDLEA reiterated its commitment to dismantling drug cartels operating in and out of Nigeria. Officials urged businesses and logistics operators to remain vigilant and report suspicious shipments, warning that traffickers are increasingly using everyday goods to smuggle illicit substances.
