271 Nigerians Return to Lagos from South Africa

A group of 271 Nigerians evacuated from South Africa has arrived in Lagos. The returnees were brought back under the Federal Government’s voluntary repatriation initiative as concerns and tensions escalate in the host country.

The exercise forms part of ongoing efforts by Nigerian authorities to ensure the safety of citizens abroad. Officials received the evacuees at the airport in Lagos and said arrangements were made to support their reintegration.

The repatriation comes amid reports of heightened strain between communities in South Africa. Government officials have not disclosed further details, but confirmed that the process was coordinated to assist Nigerians who opted to return home voluntarily.
