Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Group, has disclosed that the company declined a request from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited to expand its shareholding in the Dangote Petroleum Refinery. NNPC currently holds a 7.25% stake in the facility.
According to Dangote, the group reviewed the proposal but decided against increasing NNPC’s participation beyond its existing interest. He did not indicate plans to revisit the offer in the near term.
The statement clarifies the current ownership structure of the refinery as operations continue to scale up. The project remains a central focus for Dangote Group’s strategy in Nigeria’s downstream oil and gas sector.
