Chelsea Football Club Women have announced that, starting from the 2026/27 season, the team will play all their Women’s Super League home fixtures at Stamford Bridge. This decision marks a significant transition from their current venue, Kingsmeadow, where they have been based for the past nine years.
The move is designed to elevate the profile of the women’s team and accommodate growing supporter interest in a larger, more iconic setting. Stamford Bridge, with a capacity of approximately 40,000 to 41,000 seats, offers substantially greater potential for attendance compared to Kingsmeadow’s more limited 4,850 capacity, which has frequently sold out.
By relocating their league home games to the main stadium, Chelsea Women aim to foster increased fan engagement, enhance the matchday experience, and support the long-term development of the women’s programme.
This step aligns with similar decisions by other leading clubs in the league. The club has emphasised that this change reflects its ongoing commitment to advancing women’s football and positioning Chelsea Women as a global leader in the sport.
Consultations were held with players, the fan advisory board, and supporter groups prior to the announcement. While league matches will now be hosted at Stamford Bridge, Kingsmeadow is expected to continue serving academy and other team activities.
