BNXN Responds to Fat Joe’s Claim Over Stage Name Change

Nigerian artist BNXN has pushed back against remarks made by American rapper Fat Joe, who suggested he influenced BNXN’s decision to drop the name Buju.

The claim surfaced during a podcast appearance where Fat Joe, speaking with dancehall legend Buju Banton, referred to BNXN as an artist who had adopted the Buju name improperly.

He further alleged that the name change followed criticism raised on _The Wendy Williams Show_.BNXN swiftly addressed the comments on X, dismissing the narrative as inaccurate.

In a now-deleted post, the singer accused Fat Joe of harboring bias and circulating misleading information about African artists and the continent’s music industry.

He called on the rapper to seek a better understanding of the facts before making public statements.

The exchange highlights ongoing conversations around cultural identity, artistic naming, and cross-border respect in the global music space.

BNXN, formerly known as Buju, adopted his current stage name in 2022 to avoid confusion with Buju Banton and to establish a distinct brand.
