Hundreds of young people from Aiyetoro Gbede in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State staged a peaceful march on Monday through the community streets.
The demonstration expressed strong backing for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and its Chairman, Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan (SAN).
Participants carried placards affirming their confidence in his leadership and commitment to credible electoral processes.
The youths rejected what they described as politically driven accusations and smear campaigns aimed at undermining the INEC Chairman.
They emphasized his integrity, competence, and dedication to performing his constitutional responsibilities without distraction.
Community leaders and youth representatives highlighted Professor Amupitan’s distinguished record as a legal scholar and administrator, urging critics to allow him to focus on strengthening Nigeria’s democratic institutions.
Organizers stressed that transparent and fair elections begin with unwavering support for credible leadership at the helm of INEC.
The rally reaffirmed the community’s solidarity with their son, calling on all stakeholders to prioritize national interest over partisan interests and to refrain from attempts to tarnish his reputation through unfounded claims.
