The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) conducted a successful operation on Thursday, April 9, 2026, resulting in the arrest of 31 individuals suspected of involvement in internet fraud at a facility in Becki Estate, Karu, within the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja.
The raid targeted what authorities described as an organized training center for cybercrime activities.
Operatives apprehended the group while they were reportedly engaged in instructional sessions on fraudulent online practices.Among those detained were two alleged leaders of the operation, along with several trainees.
Investigations indicated that some participants, particularly individuals recruited from Benue State, had been drawn to the location under the pretense of legitimate employment opportunities.
Upon arrival, they were provided with mobile devices, computers, and specialized software intended to facilitate training in cyber fraud techniques.
To maintain control and ensure undivided focus, the facility operators reportedly confined the recruits to the premises, limited their movements, and confiscated their personal mobile phones, effectively isolating them from external contact.
During the operation, EFCC personnel recovered 18 laptop computers, numerous mobile phones, and additional electronic gadgets. The suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.
