Tragic Murder of Kogi State Graduate Sparks Police Investigation and Calls for Justice

The Kogi State Police Command has launched a thorough investigation into the killing of Aminu Lawal, a 25-year-old Electrical Engineering graduate from the University of Maiduguri.

The incident took place in Lokoja on March 18, 2026, while the deceased was engaged in commercial tricycle operations to support himself pending his National Youth Service Corps deployment.

His remains were later discovered in a remote bush area, prompting immediate action by law enforcement authorities.

Relatives, friends, and community members have strongly urged the police to ensure a transparent and unbiased probe. Concerns have been raised regarding possible external pressures that could lead to the premature release of a suspect already in custody.

The family has highlighted the victim’s resilience, having navigated security difficulties during his studies in the North-East only to face this untimely tragedy in his home state.

Police spokespersons have reaffirmed their commitment to conducting a comprehensive inquiry and bringing the matter to a logical conclusion.

This case underscores the importance of maintaining the integrity of criminal investigations to deliver accountability, offer closure to the bereaved family, and strengthen public trust in the justice system.
