In a significant political development, former Federal Capital Territory Senator Philip Aduda has officially defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The move marks a major shift for the longtime lawmaker, who had been a prominent figure in the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for many years.
Aduda formally joined the APC on Monday during a ceremony in Abuja, where he was warmly welcomed by the party’s National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda. The event underscores the APC’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its presence in the Federal Capital Territory and attract influential figures from other parties ahead of future elections.
Earlier that same day, Aduda submitted his resignation from the PDP, ending his long-standing affiliation with the opposition platform. Having served as the Senator representing the FCT from 2011 to 2023, his defection is expected to reshape political dynamics in the territory and signal potential realignments within Nigeria’s major parties.
