Daniel Bwala, who serves as the Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Policy Communication, has publicly criticized Al Jazeera for what he describes as selective editing of his recent appearance on the network’s “Head to Head” program.
He claims the broadcast version, hosted by journalist Mehdi Hasan, was shortened and manipulated in a way that distorted the original discussion and promoted an inaccurate portrayal of his views.
The interview, which explored the Tinubu administration’s performance and Bwala’s shift from past criticism to current support, drew considerable attention online after its release.
Portions of the exchange went viral on social media, prompting widespread commentary from Nigerians, including sharp rebukes labeling Bwala’s answers as inadequate or unconvincing.
In response to the backlash, Bwala alleged that the uploaded episode omitted roughly 20 minutes of material from the full conversation and included additional production elements that emphasized certain aspects while stripping away important context.
He has called for the release of the complete, unedited recording to allow viewers to assess the discussion in its entirety and form their own judgments.
