NAF Alpha Jet Crash: Pilots’ Swift Ejection and Professionalism Save Lives

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) announced that the two pilots of an Alpha Jet that crashed in Niger State on 6 December 2025 have been recovered alive and are receiving medical attention.

The aircraft, which had taken off from NAF Base Kainji for a post‑inspection functional check flight, experienced an in‑flight emergency shortly after departure. Both aviators ejected safely, sustaining only minor injuries, and are now undergoing routine emergency medical evaluations that have confirmed they are in good health.

The NAF praised the pilots for their exemplary bravery and professionalism during the incident. Acting with swift composure, the crew executed the emergency ejection procedures correctly, averting a potentially catastrophic outcome.

Their actions have been highlighted as a testament to the rigorous training and disciplined conduct that characterize NAF personnel.

Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing, but no evidence has emerged to suggest foul play or negligence at this stage.

The Air Force has assured the public and the families of the pilots that all necessary measures are being taken to determine the exact cause of the malfunction and to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
