The North‑East Joint Task Force, operating under Operation Hadin Kai, thwarted a night‑time attack by suspected Boko Haram fighters in Magumeri, Borno State, on 22 November 2025.
The insurgents set fire to several houses and vehicles including one belonging to a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force before being forced to withdraw around 03:00 hours on Sunday after a coordinated response from the army, the Civilian JTF, local hunters and volunteers.
No fatalities were reported, though the raid caused significant material damage.Magumeri’s Executive Chairman, Hon. Abubakar Abdulkadir Yaro, confirmed the details of the assault and praised the rapid intervention of the security forces.
He said the joint effort successfully drove the attackers out of the town and that normalcy was gradually returning as residents resumed daily activities. Yaro also highlighted the morale‑boosting effect of the operation on both the troops and the community.
The incident occurs amid a surge in Boko Haram and ISWAP attacks across Borno, including recent losses of two commanding officers during operations in Bama and Damboa.
Senior military leaders, including the Army and Air Force chiefs, have spent several days in the region overseeing new, coordinated counter‑insurgency strategies aimed at clearing the area of militants.
Military officials reassured the public of their commitment to protecting lives and property in the North‑East while pledging improvements in the welfare of frontline personnel, and the joint forces continue “combing” operations to prevent further incursions and secure the community.
