Former Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose has launched a scorching rebuke of former President Olusegun Obasanjo in a text message that was meant to be a birthday thank‑you.
In the SMS, Fayose called Obasanjo “very irresponsible” and suggested that, at his age, he should be “kept away in the zoo,” adding that the former president appears to have lost his sanity or is suffering from heightened dementia.
Fayose also demanded the return of money he says Obasanjo received from him, concluding with the proverb, “Your leopard will never change its skin.
”Obasanjo’s media aide, Kehinde Akinyemi, released the message to the public, and the former president responded tersely, thanking Fayose for his “thank‑you” note while implying that the content revealed Fayose’s true character.
Obasanjo said the money had been returned via Foluso Adeagbo, the same courier who had delivered it.The exchange revives a long‑standing feud that began in 2006 when Fayose was removed from office a move many of his supporters blamed on Obasanjo.
Their rivalry has produced repeated public spats, and this latest outburst, delivered immediately after Fayose’s 65th‑birthday celebration, stands out as one of the most dramatic episodes in their nearly two‑decade conflict.
