MultiChoice Reduces DSTV and GOtv Decoder Prices

MultiChoice Nigeria has announced a price reduction for its DSTV and GOtv decoders, effective November 1, 2025. The DSTV decoder will now cost ₦7,900, while the GOtv decoder will be available for ₦6,500. This move is the company’s second price cut in recent months, following a 50% reduction in June that brought the DSTV decoder price down from ₦20,000 to ₦10,000.

Rewarding Customer Loyalty

According to MultiChoice, the price reduction is part of its “We’ve Got You” campaign, designed to reward loyal customers and attract new ones. The company aims to make premium content more accessible to Nigerians, particularly in the face of economic challenges affecting purchasing power.

Keeping Pace with Competition

The price reduction comes as MultiChoice faces competition from streaming services like Netflix and YouTube. With a significant decrease in subscribers reported between March 2023 and March 2025, the company is working to retain its customer base.

What’s Next for MultiChoice?

The impact of this latest price reduction on MultiChoice’s subscriber numbers remains to be seen. However, with its commitment to providing affordable entertainment options, the company is likely to continue exploring ways to meet the evolving needs of its customers.

What implications do you think this price reduction will have on MultiChoice’s subscriber numbers and revenue, and how might its competitors respond to this move?
