Veteran actor Lalude is speaking out about a painful encounter with fellow Nollywood star Sola Sobowale, where she allegedly ignored him at a public event.
The incident took place during Olayemi Olayinka’s show, where both Lalude and Sobowale were in attendance. Lalude claims Sobowale deliberately snubbed him, despite their long history in the film industry.
Lalude expressed his hurt, saying, “She knew I was there, but she didn’t bother to greet me.
That thing really pained me.” He believes that despite Sobowale’s fame, she’s not above offering a simple greeting out of respect. Interestingly, Lalude also played a role in Sobowale’s early acting journey, having worked together on the Jide Kosoko-directed play “Ogun Awoyaya” at the National Theatre.
The controversy has sparked a heated debate on social media, with some fans accusing Sobowale of pride and disrespect, while others think it might have been a misunderstanding.
Some have even questioned Lalude’s motives, suggesting he might be seeking attention. Others, however, have come to Lalude’s defense, sympathizing with his hurt feelings. It’s worth noting that Sobowale has not publicly commented on the incident.
Meanwhile, Lalude has been making waves in the industry not just for his acting career but also for his outspoken views, including criticizing the All Progressives Congress (APC) for perceived betrayal after the 2023 general elections.
This isn’t the first time Lalude has been involved in a public spat. His comments on Sobowale’s wealth have also stirred controversy, with Lalude hinting that appearances might be deceiving, especially when it comes to true financial success.
