Superintendent of Police Josephine Adeh, the Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, has won the Best Police PRO Award at the 2024 Nigeria Police Force Awards and Commendation ceremony. The event was held in Abuja and recognized gallantry, integrity, and excellence within the force.
Adeh’s award was a testament to her effective deployment of social media in enhancing police-citizen engagement and her professionalism in managing security communication.
She outshone other strong contenders, DSP Chinaka Chioma of Abia State Command and SP Ikenganiya Anthony of Anambra State Command, to claim the prestigious award.
The FCT Police Command spokesperson leveraged social media to bridge the gap between law enforcement and residents, ensuring accessibility to accurate information and fostering positive connections.
Adeh dedicated her achievement to the media and FCT residents, highlighting the importance of trust and engagement in driving transparency and effective communication.
The Nigeria Police Force Awards and Commendation ceremony saw other notable winners, including SP Mustapha Mohammed, Officer-in-Charge of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, FCT Command, who took home the Gallantry Award of the Year for his operational bravery. Additionally, SP Obi Sentome of the Zone 16 Cybercrime Section was awarded for exemplary integrity after rejecting a $17,000 bribe.
Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun emphasized that the awardees were not extraordinary due to fame or fortune but because of their refusal to be ordinary. He encouraged non-recipients to be inspired rather than discouraged, reminding them that excellence is a daily standard.
