Recall: Natasha Could Vacate Seat Before Supposed Tenure

A Federal High Court in Lokoja has delivered a landmark judgment, paving the way for the recall process of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan. The court overturned an earlier ruling that restrained the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from receiving the recall process initiated by constituents of Kogi Central Senatorial District.

The judgment affirms the constitutional validity of the recall process, aligning with the civic rights of the constituents. The court urged the constituents to continue exercising their rights in an orderly and peaceful manner.

This development marks a significant step forward for the constituents, who launched the recall process citing a vote of no confidence in Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s representation. The recall process, guided by INEC’s constitutional guidelines, may potentially lead to the senator’s removal from office before the end of her term.
