2027 Elections: Bauchi State Governor is Open to Collaboration with Peter Obi

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has expressed his willingness to collaborate with Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, to bolster opposition politics in Nigeria. This move aims to provide a unified front against the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Mohammed, who is also the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum, praised Obi’s unique style of politics, statesmanship, and profound understanding of governance and the economy. He emphasized the importance of working together to address Nigeria’s pressing challenges, such as poverty, insecurity, and poor governance.

The two leaders held a closed-door meeting at the Government House in Bauchi, where they discussed various national issues, including the political situation in Rivers State and the state of opposition politics in Nigeria.

Mohammed revealed that this was not their first meeting, as they had previously engaged in discussions in Abuja ¹.Obi, on his part, explained that his visit to Mohammed was part of a broader consultation process aimed at addressing Nigeria’s challenges. He stressed the importance of involving northern leaders in discussions about the nation’s future, given the region’s pivotal role in Nigeria’s development.

The potential alliance between Mohammed and Obi is seen as a significant development in Nigeria’s opposition politics, as it brings together two major figures from different parties. This collaboration is expected to send a powerful message and resonate across the nation, as Mohammed noted.
