Alhaji Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa, the former governor of Sokoto State and 2007 presidential candidate of the Democratic Peoples Party (DPP), has denied rumors circulating on social media that he has joined the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
Through his aide, Dr. Abubakar Umar, Bafarawa described the reports as false and misleading, stating that he hasn’t granted any interviews or consulted with any groups on the matter.
It’s worth noting that Bafarawa had previously withdrawn his membership from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in January 2025, citing a desire to focus on his grassroots development initiatives.
He has since aligned himself with the Northern Star Youth Empowerment Initiative (NSYEI), a youth-focused organization aimed at promoting entrepreneurship and self-reliance in the northern region.
