Niger Delta Elders to Meet President Bola Tinubu amidst development and security concerns

Leaders from the Niger Delta region, under the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), are set to meet with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja today, Tuesday, March 12, 2025.

This meeting follows an expanded National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held at Transcorp Abuja yesterday, Monday, March 11, 2025.

The delegation, comprising traditional rulers, political leaders, and stakeholders from the six states of the Niger Delta region (Bayelsa, Delta, Edo, Ondo, Akwa Ibom, and Rivers), will discuss pressing issues affecting the region, including environmental degradation, economic development, and security concerns.

Later in the afternoon, the PANDEF leaders will also meet with Senate President Godswill Akpabio and National Assembly members from the South-South region.

PANDEF, founded by the late Senator Edwin Clark in 2016, serves as a unified voice for the Niger Delta people, promoting their interests and advocating for regional development.

The forum is co-chaired by HRM Alfred Diete-Spiff, the Amanyanabo of Twon Brass, Bayelsa State, and Obong Victor Attah, a former Governor of Akwa Ibom State. Ambassador Godknows Igali, a former federal permanent secretary and diplomat, serves as PANDEF’s National Chairman.
