Osun State Governor Condemns Violent attack in Secretariats

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has spoken out against the deadly violence that erupted in local government secretariats across the state, confirming that five members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were killed, and several others injured. The crisis began when loyalists of the All Progressives Congress (APC) attempted to reinstate their local government chairmen, who were removed by a court ruling in 2022.

This move was met with opposition from PDP supporters, leading to chaos and bloodshed.Governor Adeleke has accused the APC of trying to take over the local governments illegally, calling the violence an “illegal takeover bid.” He also blamed the APC and its supporters for the chaos, accusing them of using thugs to create disorder across the state.

To prevent further violence, Governor Adeleke has instructed all residents, including politicians, to stay away from the local government secretariats. Security agencies will take full control of the secretariats, which are currently closed due to a workers’ strike. The governor has also expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and urged residents to remain calm, assuring them that the perpetrators will face justice.
