In a massive blow to trans-border drug trafficking, Nigeria’s National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has dismantled a notorious syndicate, arresting four key players in a series of intelligence-driven operations.
The crackdown resulted in the seizure of millions of naira worth of tramadol pills, methamphetamine disguised as auto spare parts, and other illicit substances across multiple states.
The NDLEA’s Directorate of Intelligence had been tracking the syndicate for weeks, leading to the interception of two Sienna buses on January 27, 2025, at the Nasarawa-Toto Road in Keffi, Nasarawa State.
The buses were found to have specially constructed steel compartments hidden behind the back bumper and in the spare tire compartments, concealing a total of 190,960 tramadol pills.
The NDLEA’s efforts didn’t stop there. Further operations led to the arrest of additional suspects, the seizure of more illicit substances, and the dismantling of a notorious drug joint in Ekiti. The agency’s commitment to dismantling drug networks and preventing illicit substances from reaching the streets is clear, and their intelligence-driven operations are yielding significant results.
