23 Year Old Sentenced to One Year Imprisonment for Fraud

A Kwara State High Court in Ilorin has sentenced 23-year-old Odeyemi Oluwaseun to one year imprisonment for internet fraud and obtaining money under false pretenses. Oluwaseun, a self-styled spiritualist, was prosecuted by the Ilorin Zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on two counts of fraud and impersonation.

Oluwaseun’s scam involved impersonating a female spiritualist on Instagram, using the alias “Lord Hill” and the account “_Visions_by_Tendo_12.” He convinced two victims to send gift cards worth $7,700, promising to restore their romantic relationships. Specifically, he claimed he could “diabolically influence” one victim’s ex-husband to return in exchange for $3,200 worth of gift cards.

The court’s sentence includes six months’ suspended imprisonment on each count and the forfeiture of Oluwaseun’s recovered assets, including $1,000 cash, an iPhone 15, and a 2008 Toyota Camry, to the federal government.
