A notorious human trafficking kingpin, Christiana Uadiale Jacob, alias Christy Gold, has been apprehended by the Nigeria Immigration Service at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. Jacob, who has been on the run for five years, was arrested on December 31, 2024, upon her arrival from Dubai.
Her capture marks a significant milestone in the fight against human trafficking in Nigeria.Jacob’s illicit activities involved recruiting and trafficking underage Nigerian girls to Dubai, where they were forced into prostitution.
Her syndicate operated across the Middle East, with a network of accomplices in Nigeria and the UAE. Despite being granted bail in 2020, Jacob absconded to Dubai, prompting a bench warrant to be issued for her arrest. The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) had been working tirelessly to bring Jacob to justice.
Her conviction in absentia by the Federal High Court in Asaba, Delta State, in March 2024, paved the way for her eventual arrest. Jacob’s capture serves as a warning to human traffickers that they will be brought to justice, no matter how long it takes.
