Chelsea secured a thrilling 2-1 victory over Brentford FC at Stamford Bridge yesterday. The win marked the Blues’ fifth successive victory in the Premier League. The match saw Chelsea dominate possession, with Marc Cucurella scoring the opener just before halftime. Cucurella headed home an excellent cross from Noni Madueke to give Chelsea a deserved lead.
In the second half, Chelsea continued to probe the Brentford defense, and Nicolas Jackson eventually scored the second goal in the 80th minute. However, Brentford pulled one back through Bryan Mbeumo in the 90th minute, making for a nervy finish. The win takes Chelsea up the Premier League table, and they will look to continue their winning streak in their next match against Everton FC on December 22 at Goodison Park. Chelsea’s victory was marred by Marc Cucurella’s red card in the 90+5 minute, following an altercation with Brentford’s Kevin Schade.
